I have been buying the snack bags of mini Chips Ahoy for the longest time. Usually take them on picnics where they can be in the hot car and the chips could get somewhat melted so they would have a more "fresh from the oven" taste.
Starting last year, I noticed the mini chips ahoys were distinctly different. First like someone else mentioned, they started appearing somewhat more "burnt". Not just one bag, several bags. Next, they used to have real chocolate chips sticking out and look somewhat like a cookie you would make at home.
Now they look like they have all been sliced off a roll and bake in a uniform fashion. The chocolate chips seem smaller than before and the cookies are like hard little burnt disks.
I no longer find them enjoyable to eat and the last time Kroger had a "10 for 10" sale on these (which I would formerly load up on), I passed. We'll be having something else for future picnics.
